Student Organizations
The Otto H. York Department of Chemical Engineering sponsors student chapters of a number of professional organizations to assist students in their professional development and career growth:
- The American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) is the professional organization of chemical engineers, devoted to the advancement and growth of its members and promotion of chemical engineering as a career.
- The Americal Chemical Society (ACS) which has members at all degree levels and in all fields of chemistry. The organization provides a broad range of opportunities for peer interaction and career development, regardless of professional or scientific interests.
- Omega Chi Epsilon ( OMEGA) is the national chemical engineering honor society. Membership is intended to honor students of merit. The society promotes high scholarship, encourages original investigation in chemical engineering and recognizes the valuable traits of character, integrity and leadership.
- The Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) is dedicated to the advancement of knowledge and education for all plastics professionals. The NJIT Student Chapter was founded in 2001.
