




The Otto York Department of Chemical Engineering at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level, with expertise in the area of pharmaceutical/chemical/biopharmaceutical engineering. The optimal candidate is expected to contribute to the ongoing research activities focused on dosage forms manufacturing, pharmaceutical unit operations, impact of the physico-chemical properties of formulations, and the performance of the final pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical dosage form.
The Department has 18 full-time faculty members and enrolls over 194 undergraduate students as well as 160 graduate students in chemical engineering and pharmaceutical engineering. The Department is home to several inter-disciplinary research centers focused on nanotechnologies, polymer processing, membrane technology, engineering particulates, and is a partner in newly established NSF-Engineering Research Center (ERC) in Structured Organic Particulate Systems (SOPS) whose mission is to be the national focal point for science-based development of novel manufacturing processes and products for the pharmaceutical industry. Last year, departmental research expenditure was $3.3 Million.
Applicants should have an earned Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related disciplines and a demonstrated record of cross-disciplinary research. The successful candidate is expected to teach graduate and undergraduate courses and develop a world-class research program funded by federal and industrial sources, including pharmaceutical companies affiliated with the ERC.
