Welcome to the Otto H. York Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering website! We are a vibrant and collaborative community dedicated to providing students a solid foundation in chemical engineering with hands-on experiences in and out of the classroom. Our undergraduate and graduate programs prepare graduates for rewarding careers in industry, government, and academia.
Our faculty members are studying some of the most pressing problems today in areas that include advanced materials, nanotechnology, biotechnology, energy, and the environment. We have two research Centers: the New Jersey Center for Engineered Particulates (National Science Foundation (NSF) Engineering Research Center) and the Membrane Science, Engineering and Technology Center (NSF Industry/University Collaborative Research Center). Our faculty members have funding from NSF, the U.S. Department of Defense, NASA, private foundations, and industry.
With an important part of the curriculum focused on experiential learning opportunities, our students participate in research experiences, cooperative education, and study abroad. In addition, our students are actively engaged in our AIChE Student Chapter.
Please take some time to explore our undergraduate and graduate degree programs, research activities, and faculty.
