Undergraduate Research Opportunities

The department strongly encourages qualified undergraduate students to get involved with research.  A very significant number of undergraduate students have conducted award-winning research and have published results with their faculty mentors in highly respected peer-reviewed journals.  Undergraduates do research during the academic year and/or the summer.  Opportunities exist in almost all areas in which faculty conduct research.  Interested students should consult with Professor Reginald Tomkins, Associate Chair for Undergraduate Studies and subsequently contact individual faculty members.

The McNair Achievement Program, directed by Professor Angelo J. Perna of the Department of Chemical Engineering, offers a number of research opportunities to students belonging in minority and underrepresented groups.
